What does that mean?
A kid will fall down many times learning to walk. A child will fall down many times learning to ride a bicycle. However this unlucky experience is accepted as given. But humans don’t like making mistakes. And I believe it’s the one thing we have in common with everyone.
We need to remember that the falling down is a part of the process of learning to walk, to ride a bicycle, etc. Without falling down a child will never learn.
It’s the same for every new thing in our life.
If you can learn to accept mistakes as opportunities for learning, then you’ll feel less stressed.
Where can I apply this in my life?
It is the same for photography. We make mistakes from the first day when we pick up our camera.
You may forget to put a memory card in the camera or to change settings. You may forget to check your focus and receive soft pictures.
Then you’ll be too hard on yourself, thinking that a good photographer would never do such a thing. Guess what! We all do such mistakes.
The problem is how you deal with them. Admit you’ve made a mistake, find out what you did wrong; make it right where you can or do everything possible to avoid the situation next time.
Mistakes don’t have to define you as a photographer as they don’t define you as a person. If there were no mistakes, no one could learn new things.
