Photo Essay: Lanterns and Street Lights.

“If you light a lantern for another, it will also brighten your own way”
                                                                                        Nichiren

We are more likely to focus on what is in front of us.
But from time to time it’s wonderful to take a moment to check out what’s going on above us.

You’ll discover that there are many interesting subjects for your photography.
For a example -  lanterns and street lights.

A lantern is any light, decorative structure of relatively small size crowning a roof, dome, etc.

A street light, light pole, lamppost, street lamp, light standard, or lamp standard is a raised source of light on the edge of a road or walkway.

These common things could be the source of inspiration for poets, writers, philosophers and… photographers.

“…The streetlights
reflect on the wet pavement,
in pools of gold and silver.
The neon signs blink,
red and yellow,
blue and green.
Like drips of paint,
it puddles on the street…”
Kelly Deschler

“I am out with lanterns, looking for myself.”
 Emily Dickinson

“If there are no stars on the sky, you must try to be happy with the shining streetlights!”
Mehmet Murat IIdan
